Druid Chamber Meeting

On entering the Druid chambered cairn Barclodiad Y Gawres in Anglesey, Wales, I began to feel a surge of energy, of physical pressure on by body. I wondered if I was experiencing the energy of the chamber. But why this one in particular? I had felt nothing at the one we had been to before. I later learned that this chamber is the largest Neolithic tomb in Wales and was built around the same time as the Egyptian Pyramids and Stonehenge. Could this have been a contributing factor?

Nowadays, sadly, to keep the stones and inner chamber safe, bars guard the entrance.

A woman and her young son were there. An elderly man came soon after who seemed to be the father or a relation of some kind. I thought nothing of this man and continued to quietly feel the inexplicable shrouding by being. He took out some sage, lit it and reached his arm through the bars, allowing the sage to drift where it would. I half laughed. It wasn’t surprising - I had already seen incense burning in the other tomb we had just visited and flowers and stones placed inside the chamber.

He must have hear me and explained he did this to cleanse the space for the ancestors. I nodded and said nothing, watching the sage burn. He began speaking in a language that wasn’t English nor one I readily recognised. Unbidden tears started flowing down my face as I began speaking in the Languages of the Self, with him, to him. The surge of energy was intense. I cry sometimes at times like this but not from sadness. I think it’s because the energy/emotions can feel very strong, as if the energy pushes through a part of me that is trying to resist and contain it for some reason.

When our little ‘dialogue’ stopped, I asked if he was speaking Welsh.

“No, I was speaking Lakota,” was the unexpected reply.

I was stunned and inwardly amused at this unseeming coincidence occurring before me. In Wales, a place I’d never been, I come face to face with a British man telling me he speaks an American Indian language. And not just any American Indian language but the one that I was beginning to believe was very similar to one of the dialects of the Languages of the Self of the Ancient Ones that I spoke. If I logically reflect on his words spoken, they didn’t sound like one of the dialects I spoke. Yet, the profound energy and overwhelming presence that came over me cannot be denied.

He asked me what language I was speaking.

“I don’t know, only that they feel like a very ancient language,” was my hesitant reply.

He offered that he was Lakota in a past life and that it was during his dreams that the language and knowledge he had came to him. Like me, he didn’t read books to learn more about it through the interpretation of others. He followed the guidance he felt he was given and thus the reason he was sageing this sacred burial ground and speaking to me about respecting and honouring all ancestors.

As he turned to leave a few minutes later, he told me his name was Two Crows and asked mine.

Again, I felt myself laugh inwardly as I don’t have any special name.

“I’m just Regina,” I said, thinking of all the people I knew who had taken on a different name as their spiritual identity.

Within a few minutes of Two Crow’s departure, feeling the powerful energy settle, I went in search of my husband and son who had conveniently disappeared and witnessed nothing of my experience.

Next, we visited the ancient village of Din Lligwy, about 40 minutes away. Walking amidst the stones, I felt a new wave of energy akin to what I had felt at Barclodiad Y Gawres. I thought, what now? The site was nothing mystical or unusual, no burial grounds or standing stones, no offerings.

Suddenly two solitary large black shapes flew over me. My husband saw my startled response as they flew over and said, “Two crows.”

My brain’s jaw dropped open. What kind of bizarre coincidence or not was this?

I asked myself what caused the initial energy surge? Was it the man I met? Was it the ancient chamber? Was it the chamber’s original owners facilitating the meeting? Was this a sign of confirmation that Lakota was indeed one of the languages I was speaking?
